David W. Slaughter is currently the president of Snow, Christensen & Martineau, with offices in Salt Lake City and St. George, Utah. After three years' active duty as a commissioned officer in the United States Army, he returned to school, earning his J.D. (magna cum laude) in 1981 from the J. Reuben Clark Law School (Brigham Young University), where he was Lead Articles Editor of the BYU Law Review, and its Lead Articles Editor from 1980-81. Mr. Slaughter joined his present firm following a one-year clerkship with Judge Malcolm R. Wilkey on the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
Mr. Slaughter's law practice centers in commercial litigation and dispute resolution, with particular emphasis on complex commercial disputes, construction, surety and fidelity matters, and intellectual property and trade secrets litigation. He is also primary counsel and consultant to a number of national and international companies. He has served as a mediator or arbitrator in construction and commercial disputes for over 20 years and is a panel arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association.
He is a member of the American Bar Association and Utah State Bar. He has also been actively involved in community and ecclesiastical service and has served as a member of the Sandy City (Utah) Public Utilities Citizens Advisory Board since 1995 (chairman since 2003). He has lectured before local and national professional organizations and has authored several papers dealing with construction and surety law and other topics, including the following:

Chapter 9 Municipal Debt Adjustment,” presented to the Pearlman Association 2008. Mr. Slaughter is also a contributing author to 2008 ABA publication, “The Surety’s Indemnity Agreement: Law and Practice, 2nd Ed.”
