Tim Dunn, Esq. MEDIATIONS ** ARBITRATIONS ** CASE CONSULTATIONS

TIM DALTON DUNN is a very experienced trial lawyer, having personally tried 180 civil jury cases.  He has tried cases for both plaintiffs and defendants; and is an expert in brain injury, wrongful death, premises liability, personal injury, products liability, automobile liability, insurance law and bad faith law.  Mr. Dunn has received many accolades and recognitions, but is most proud of his Diplomate status with the American Board of Trial Advocates (Utah's only living recipient) and has served as a member of the National Board of Directors of the American Board of Trial Advocates.

Tim was awarded Utah Trial Lawyer of the Year in 2004.

CONFIDENTIALITY —Tim Dunn argued and prevailed before the Utah Supreme Court in the important case regarding mediation confidentiality Reese v Tingey , 177 P.3d 605, (UT 2008).  Mediation, arbitrations and case consultations are strictly confidential unless agreed otherwise.  This allows us to express and receive opinions in private and in confidence.  Tim's familiarity with the standards and rules regarding mediation/arbitration and the legal research in preparation for briefing and oral argument on the Reese case makes Tim uniquely qualified to properly handle or conduct mediations and arbitrations. 

Tim has been a certified Mediator and Arbitrator since he first became qualified, after testing, with the State of Utah in 1999.  He has successfully served as mediator or arbitrator many times since, including a case involving 31 claimants.

He has actually tried cases in multiple Federal Courts and 19 of Utah's 29 counties and in a number of other states.

Admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court (1974), the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals (1981), Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals (1991), the Court of Appeals of the District of Columbia (1973), the United States Court of Claims (1973), the Interstate Commerce Commission (1972), the Ute-Ouray Indian Court (1977), the United States District Court of Wyoming, the United States District Court of Utah (1970), the United States District Court for the District of Hawaii (1989), the Supreme Court and all of the trial courts of the State of Utah (1970), the Supreme Court and all of the trial courts of the State of Hawaii (1987). Also admitted Pro Hac Vice in courts in California, Arizona, Colorado, Montana and Nevada.

Tim has published a booklet entitled “OBJECTION AND RESPONSES: A GUIDE TO OBJECTIONS FOR CIVIL TRIALS AND DEPOSITIONS” and numerous seminar publications and publications.

Tim has also served as one of the chairmen of Utah's esteemed annual Utah Brain Injury Conference for eight years.

One of Tim's best professional assets is his near-encyclopedic knowledge of Utah Insurance Code.  He gained this knowledge by serving on the Utah Insurance Recodification Commission, which re-wrote Utah's Insurance Code and drafted “the better parts” of Utah Liability Reform Law.  Tim has also participated in drafting many of Utah's insurance laws and regulations.
