Judge Timothy Hanson
Professional Experience: Admitted to the Utah State Bar 1970.
Practiced as a trial lawyer from 1970 to 1981 with the Salt Lake City law firm of Hanson, Russon, Hanson & Dunn. Litigated various matters for both plaintiffs and defendants, in areas of commercial, construction, personal injury, products liability, medical, legal, dental and architectural malpractice, and insurance coverage matters in both state and federal courts. In 1981 appointed as District Court judge in the Third Judicial District. Presided over major civil and criminal litigation, both bench and jury trials. Retired as an active District Court judge on January 1, 2007. From January 2007 to present acted as an active senior judge in various districts around the state.

ADR Experience: Commenced private arbitration and mediation January 2008. As a District Court judge mediated multiple cases over which I presided and for colleagues between 1981 and 2007.
Honors: Received the highest ratings for District Court judges in the Third District in the Salt Lake County Bar Survey conducted by the Desert News and KSL TV “Judging the Judges”, 1987 Selected as one of the leading 500 Judges in America by Lawdragon, based on interviews of practicing lawyers in 2006.
